VILLAGE AFTER VILLAGE

Twenty years ago, on a long African road, I passed village after village with no sign of any church. I was on my first mission trip to this part of the world and my heart was stirred.  I had joined a team that was building what is known as a tabernacle church.  A metal frame kit that resembles a hay barn in the Midwest. Approximately 30 sheets of tin suspended on 4 metal trusses with no side walls, just the roof.

The local church can immediately begin to meet under this structure and have some relief from the elements.  Concrete block can be laid by this local assembly at the pace that is affordable to the congregation.

Many African congregations begin under a tree or brush arbor and this new structure adds credibility to the cause.  It is an encouragement to believers and is also a tool to reach others in the community.

Great Commission Builders was formed to join like minded volunteers under one vision to assist these local congregations with building needs. We are currently working with The Assemblies of God in Ivory Coast West Africa, http://www.EEADCI.org . We have a fabrication factory just outside the Capitol City of Abidjan. We are working with Assemblies of God Missionary Brent Teague, http://www.teague-missions.com
